First Day
We got Ruby after school let out in the 7th grade, 2002. Our neighbor brought her in a lunch
pale. She was a baby and was being beaten up by the bigger birds. She came from Ontario, California. A couple hours away.
She was nice, fluffy, and hungry. She didnt really like the baby bird food, so she started eating Seeds as soon as she could.
She was a very adorable bird.
Her Life
Ruby was an Explorer. She found a ton of hiding places. She had one everywhere in the living
room. She was a fisty little thing, too. She bit you whenever you tried to pick her up. She seemed normal size, until we got
our Dove. She was sooo tiny. She had just gotten all of her feathers and was starting to be nice. In late September 2004 she
started to try to make a nest. She was going everywhere getting "materials". I think she had a good life. Everyone would peel
her seeds to eat. They were too big for her to crack them by herself. I have a movie of my dad peeling her seeds and her paciently
waiting on his leg. She was a very good bird.

The End
Here are some memories I have of her befire she died
later the day, and how she died. I remember her eating a bunch of seeds in HER dish, a little hamster dish she loved. I also
remembered her perching on my shoulder while I was walking around. She was also having un playing in and with the Newspaper.
Some of the last things are probably just walking around the living room, picking and eating anything & everything she
could.
Me and Andrea were on the computer talking to Cristi with the webcam. We heard her squawk and fly. We didnt
know where she was. We knew something was wrong because that was like her "Help" or "Im right here" or "I'm hurt" squawk.
My sister found her, she landed near/under the corner end table next to the bookcase. She was trying to land on the bookcase
(one of her Favorite hiding places) and Andrea picked her up. Ruby was spitting blood up and died about a minute later. It
looked like she broke her Neck. I dont know how she really died, I mean, what made her squak like that? I really wish I knew.
I took it the hardest. My sister, Criti, and Mom keep saying, "There's nothing you can do now, when it is there time to go, its their time."
Ruby is now buried under the Mamosa tree in our frontyard.
